How does it work?

Step 1: Create an account with Law Label Services
  1. This is simply a user ID, password and your email address.
  2. You only need to do this once.

Step 2: Sign Power of Attorney and Fax it to Law Label Services
  1. The Power of Attorney ONLY gives Law Label Services the ability to SIGN YOUR APPLICATION on your behalf. It does NOT give any other rights to Law Label Services!
  2. This Power of Attorney is limited to allowing Law Label Services to sign and submit the documents on behalf of your company. Without the power of attorney, the registration applications will have to be sent to YOU to be signed. This will cause delays and may even get lost in the postal mail.
  3. Click HERE for more information on the Power of Attorney.
  4. After signing it (with witnesses), fax it back to Law Label Services at (001) 614.543.8348 or mail it to:

  5. The copy of the Power of Attorney will be kept in your company information file at Law Label Services.
  6. You only need to do this once.

Step 3: IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A URN Certificate, send it to Law Label Services
  1. Email or fax a copy of your current, valid, URN Certificate. This will be sent to the states when you are registered.

Step 4: LOGIN and create your Company Information document
  1. This document will contain all of your company’s information like address, contact names, phone numbers and state specific information.
  2. If you do not have a URN, we will apply for one for you using the first registration you submit to us. It will be used for all your future registrations.
  3. This may take a few minutes to fill out, but it is needed to automate the registration process. This information will be used to populate the data on the state registration forms automatically.
  4. You only NEED to do this once, but can update it in the future.

Step 5: IF YOU ALREADY HAVE LAW LABELS WITH A VALID URN, send sample law labels to Law Label Services
  1. Each state requires that at least 2 actual law labels be sent with the application.
  2. Please MAIL 2 actual law labels FOR EACH STATE REGISTERED to:

Step 6: You are now ready to register with the states
  1. Click on the Registration link to begin.
  2. Enter the Factory Information
  3. Enter the label and stuffing information.
  4. You can preview the label here. This is not an exact replica of the label, but it will give you a good idea what it will look like. The real label will be sent to you in an email once the process is complete.
  5. Checkout and submit your label registration request.
  6. You must do this for every label you need to register, but each label can be registered in multiple states.

Step 7: IF YOU DO NOT HAVE LAW LABELS OR A VALID URN, send sample law labels to Law Label Services
  1. Each state requires that at least 2 actual law labels be sent with the application.
  2. After you are assigned a URN for that factory, you will need to send Law Label Services 2 actual law labels for each additional state that you are registering in.
  3. Please MAIL 2 actual law labels FOR EACH ADDITIONAL STATE REGISTERED to:

Step 8: (OPTIONAL) Send stuffing sample to Ohio
  1. Ohio, Ohio.Bedding@com.state.oh.us, requires a sample to test.
  2. Click HERE for more information on Ohio Sample Testing.
  3. You should send them via courier (DHL or Fed-Ex), not postal service!
  4. The state will send YOU an invoice later with the charges for the testing. You can expect to pay US$100+ per tested material. Law Label Services will help you make the payments.
  5. Example: A cushion with 90% Poly and 10% Cotton will require TWO (2) tests.
  6. This is only required for Ohio registrations.

Step 9: (OPTIONAL) Complete California Application
  1. California requires an original signature on all applications.
  2. After you have submitted your registration request, we will email you the form to sign.
  3. Please sign it and MAIL it back to:

  4. This is only required for California registrations.

Step 10: (OPTIONAL) Complete North Carolina Application
  1. North Carolina requires an original signature on all applications.
  2. After you have submitted your registration request, we will email you the form to sign.
  3. Please sign it and MAIL it back to:

  4. Be sure to include a note letting us know who they are from.
  5. This is only required for North Carolina registrations.

Step 11: You are complete!
  1. In a short time, you will receive by email, and/or postal mail, your confirmation from each individual state.
  2. You are now registered to sell stuffing goods in those states!

In approximately 10 months (or sooner), you will get a notice from Law Label Services reminding you that you need to renew with those states. Also, anytime there is a change in the registration process or rules, we will notify you immediately.
